I've been speaking to the planet 10 guysabout a woofer addition to the fonken fr speakers I've built and it looks like I will need to bi amp things in order to power them and achieve good results.
Before I go down that road though I just want explore another option. Is it possible to incorporate x2 lf out puts to power x2 active mid/bass driver into my SSE build?
The 'wooft' enclosures sit under each fonken hence x2. I'm guessing having 2, one for each channel would eliminate cross talk?

Yes, this is how I have my SSE wired. Use the lowest value volume pot that your source(s) can drive and simply wire a second set of RCA jacks in parallel with the PC board inputs (after the volume pot). Connect your LF amp to these jacks.
This assumes that some sort of Low Pass Filter is included in the LF amp. In my case there is an adjustable LPF inside my powered sub. I use three sources and each can drive 10K or lower without issue, so I use a 10K volume pot to avoid loss of high frequencies from the added cables after the pot.
I use two different speaker systems with the SSE, one of which is Planet 10 FH3's, the other is Yamaha NS-10M. Both need a bit of help below 80 Hz. The SSE doesn't produce much power below 80 Hz because the speakers are up in the 15 to 25 ohm region below resonance. No high pass filter on the SSE input is needed.

I am finishing up my SSE and I will install outputs for a powered sub woofer. My sub has adjustable LPF up to 120 Hz.
I have the SSE as a prototype and I've done some testing with these outputs, more or less as you recommended to mudchute.
But, I have a dedicated volume pot to the output of the sub woofer and another to the PCB.
I made a derivation between RCA input and the main volume pot (PCB) and from this point to the dedicated volume pot of the sub woofer, then I wired this to the RCA output of the sub. This setup allows me to better adjust the volume of the sub in any kind of music, as it becomes independent.
Do you see any problem with this setup?

When I built my bottlehead preamp the subwoofer output was wired to the main output with a 1k resistor. I believe it was to provide some electrical isolation from the subwoofer electronics.
I went for an active xo setup in the end and a chip amp to handlw the woofer section.
I hope to build an SE and have that power the full range drivers and use my SSE complete with EH KT88's and CXSE transformers to power the woofers. Best of all worlds.

I use a stepped attenuator and rotary selector switch in a box as a 'pre-amp' with 2 sets of outputs in parallel, no resistors. Simple. Clean. Drives 2 powered subs when I want them.

Can I check a few details about your above setup please.
So if I understand correctly you have source(s) feeding into selector then volume pot which then goes to two sets of phono jacks in parrallel?
Do you then have a volume pot on your tube amp?
Also, just to clarify the first set of jacks go to the tube amp and the second set of jacks then go to the standalone powered subs with their own lpf/ps etc?
Could this setup incorporate a high pass filter set to about 80hz for the tube amp?
