I have seen a loudspeaker that uses the SS99 Rev tweeter x'd at about 1.5khz. Can the 97/99's really handle this frequency without sounding crap?
can you show us the link. depends on the slope. the 99's Fs is 500Hz (even though the R @fs is sorta high). i think an high order XO (3rd order and above) might still work with these given that i remember seeing a 1st order series XO using teh 9900 somewhere..

is the link, he uses a 2nd order electric for 4th order sum, which is what I would use too.
Im using them at 2k and they cope with ease even at really loud passages, but im not even gonna clip the amp as its all active, and tweeters dont exactly use much oomph.
I just wanted to know if im likely to bust a tweet. I read on the madisound board that someone had crossed the w15cy to a Seas Mill tweet and said it sounded better at 1.5k other then 2k. I wanted to ask here first before going ahead with it and frying a coil. Obviously the Millenium is a completely different device but I thought Id give it a go.

The SS97s have a high Xmax for a tweeter and I've used them at 2k and a 3rd order Bessel with no problem. I play them LOUD without clipping and they are fine after 3 or 4 years.
I thought as much tough tweets!
Im assuming that the 3rd order is acoustic?
Either way I think i will be safe to try anyway.
Cheers Matt
