SRI Enclosures

with a google search, all I could find is this:

October 14, 2002 -- New York - Television sets with speakers are the norm, but how about TV screens that serve as the speakers? Engineers at SRI International Inc., a nonprofit research firm in Menlo Park, Calif., have created speakers made of a thin sheet of silicone. It is stretched over a frame and coated on both sides with electrodes. When an electric signal is sent across the sheet, the electrodes cause the silicone to contract or expand and create sound waves. Because silicone and the electrodes can be made transparent, SRI's material could be built into televisions and allow the screen to double as a speaker.
"It's possible to make transparent speakers and produce movie-theater-like sound where (dialogue) is really coming from the person's mouth," says Roy Kornbluh, a senior research engineer at SRI

TV screens may double as speakers...

Is this what you are referring to?

Check yer mail...

The SRI enclosures were produced by a shop in Missoula, MT I believe in the early to mid nineties. Quite the enclosure. Very impressive band pass. Had some light in the box too. A friend of mine has one still. We've considered tearing it apart and building more. I also may know who the owner of that shop was. I've been meaning to find out about the plans.
