I see that Srajan has added a postscript talking about the phase thing:

That brown diffusing array on the wall is some Greek acoustics guy product, have seen it here in some places.
You'll soon know first hand, lucky boy.
Listen before and after Slivovitz for compare and contrast.
...after shlivovitcz there is no contrast...just angels singing....in tune .. out of tune ... who cares....😀
There are now 6 parts to that piece, so if you saw the early postings, you
might want to take a look again.

Using degeneration for SIT is a "crime". It is the only class of active
devices (together with triodes) that can provide low output impedance
(of a few Ohm) in CS configuration without any FB and a gain >1 (related
to mu).
Degenerating SIT (as well as triode) will increase its output impedance,
thus eliminating its main advantage in comparison with the other active
devices.

Are we talking about use of a source resistor, I don't think so.
Can someone tell me a reference to this term, that anyone can understand?

Thanks again Steven. Had no idea as i am a super newb. Gain of less than 1. Ahhhhh. Just what i need for easy implementation
And his SIT graph clearly shows mu~15, which, with the LL positioning,
produced gain of 19db (almost 10 times). Much higher, than with those
Sony's (mu~4), and even Yamaha's V-JFET (mu~7).

If you really want to hear the S2
It will be in room 1007 at RMAF.
A prototype unit arrived here today. Now to play some music through it!

S2 Sounds like tubes
Well, my system is in a bit of disarray right now, and it is hard to mark a detailed observation of the sound of the S2. The initial brush with it is that it sounds like a great tube amplifier, with a bit more speed and detail. My ears say tubes, and the amount of heat it generates says tubes. This thing cooks!
More later.

Inside the S2
Sorry Zen, but you appear to be wrong. Popped the hood and found this. Looks like a GM70 to me.
well ..... just remember that Mighty ZM first sez that Papa is playin' with modern 300B
