Wow didn't expect so many replies, thanks everyone. In the end I sprayed from a distance moving the can quickly so as to leave the thinnest coat as possible.
Apparently Cheapo BBQ makers don't know that.
Demand even paint coverage?

Could simply hide the resultant component from direct view 😉

And BBQ uses high temp paint anyhow.
