splitting exising AV amp into separate boxes... worth it?

So, I've often read of the advantages of housing the amplifier power supply away from the main amplifier section and the increases to sound quality this should bring.

I also have an old DENON AVC A10SE amplifier with a blown amplifier channel (one of the 5, relatively simple but fiddly repair) and damaged casing.

I have been pondering if I can re-build this into a decent quality 4 channel power amplifier by removing the power amplifier and power supply sections and building these into separate boxes.

This seems like a very obvious DIY mod, when a lot of high end separates are simply integrated amps split into different boxes, yet I can find very little information on it on the net.

So the questions are:

Should I bother to re-build the amp, and would the sound quality likely be 'high fidelity', and if not would it be worth keeping the power supply and building it into a stereo power amplifier using different boards, or should I just dump the lot?

If I remember correctly the PSU gives +/-36v from a 1200VA torroidal transformer and 2 18,000uF capacitors.

I should mention that my main system is running from an AVC A1-D, which is very similar except it has higher rated capacitors and a better quality dac section, so It would likely act as pre-amp for now.

Thanks all

"Hi-fidelity" is mostly subjective. I can't speak no Denon, it really depends on topology and build quality in my opinion. If dumping the lot means trash can then I submit you play with it and make whatever you want. Who knows, you may learn something and have fun too boot. One caution however, potential lethal voltages abound inside that chassis, so if you are not qualified, don't mess with it. Respectfully...
