splitting a signal

I have a pair of subs with 15'' drivers that normally operate in my Hi Fi system in stereo, driven by their dedicated stereo SS power amp.
From time to time I wish to use the subs for my Home Theatre system.
The sub output from the HT amp is mono and I wish to operate the subs in dual mono. Is it a simple matter of placing a Y piece in the cable between amps, so the HT mono signal is split into the two phono inputs of the subs amplifier?

Depends on whether the sub out on your HT amp is speaker or line level - if line level, then your proposal is fine - if speaker level, you will need to attenuate it.

Thanks that helps.
It is line level and works just fine into one channel.
What worried me is that the Y piece effectively shorts the two phono inputs to the stereo amp together. But as you say its OK I will proceed.
