Hello ,i want to build a resistor jig,for the speakerworkshop program to measure response etc.

But in my local electronic stores(dick smith electronics,jaycar electronics),
i cant find a *non inductive 20watt resistor*

can i just use normal ones??????
what will this muck up???

i plan on testing my next subwoofer with this program to see what it can do.

I have used two 5W in parallel 🙂
I think it won't make a difference.

By the way, my jig (E. Wallin) does not work well, I think we need a modified sound card to make it work. I did not have time to continue the investigation but I will probably make my own jig. His jig does not seems to work well with a laptop sound card.

Depending on how much inductance the resistor has, it will affect the accuracy of the measurements. Probably not by a lot, but still.

I've got the same problem as you, can't find it. Actually I'm not sure the Tandy resistor used in the jig is still available in the States.

I've ordered this one, though it's likely to be much bigger than the one used in the jig:
