I think there are a few things to consider.
1- How much power does your class A amp have?
2- How loud do you like to listen to your music?
3- What type of music do you listen to?
4- How large is your listening room?
Try to balance all that (but don't drive yourself nuts.
For starters I would recommend something of at least 93dB/W/M for 6 watts or less (but I don't try to fill the entire house, nor do I try to make my ears bleed any longer 😉 ). For "flea power" amps of 1 to 3 watts something closer to 98dB to 100dB might be a better choice.
Having said all that, lately I've been listening to a single ended amp with probably 6 watts (I haven't seriously measured it yet) with 89dB speakers in a small room (12 x 9) and have been very satisfied.
