ive been searching all over to find out how power is
distributed differently between these configurations..

could someone correct me if im wrong.. but
my assumption is

suppose an 'amp' has max output 480 watts.

then in speakers a mode.
its 240 watts max going to the a left and another 240 max going to the a right..same goes for the speakers b mode..

but in speakers a+b mode, its 120 watts max going to a left, a right, b left and b right?...

Depends on the difference in rating the amp has when
the impedance gets lower. If all the speakers are 8
ohms and the rating of the amp is 240 watts per channel
into 8 ohms and say 400 watts per channel into 4 ohms,
then with A you get 240 watts per channel, same with B.

With A+B you get 200 watts into each of the 2 speakers
on each channel.
