Thanks!
I will be getting the Woofer & Tweeter from www.mass.com.au.
The only problem is the price, Its going to cost me AUD $270.00 just for a pair of Woofers and Tweeters. This is a bit too expensive 4 me, one thing I would like to ask is whether you could post up the Woofers and Tweeters u would choose if you had a price limit of AUD $200.00

For $200 i would look at Audax, expecially the specials found on the http://www.me-au.com
I'd use the TM025F1 TWEETER 25MM HIFI ROUND TEXTILE (MICRO)
That would cost you a little over $30 each.

Those are nice tweeters. If you are looking at that one you should also consider the TM025C1 which gives away some sensity (you won't have to pad it as much) for a really compact form factor* (and a little less $$$ if the CAD prices in the pictures are any indication) or for the same money the TM025F9 which has a slighly smaller faceplate (so you can get it a bit closer to the midbass) and a slighly more extended range at the bottom.
* might be small enuff that you could consider mounting it co-axially.
An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.
Note: the missing specs on the right are the same as the one on the left

Thanks!
This has been a big help. Are these prices in AUD$, if so I will be getting one of these models, but which one.Because there is such a small price difference, which one would you take.I really dont know which one to choose!!!
Jeroth
BTW, where did you get the pictures and prices from?😕

Re: Thanks!
These prices are in Canadian $$$, which are close to the Oz $. If i had to pick i'd get the one with no mounting bezel, next choice would be the one with the flattened top & bottom
Snapshots out of the McBride Catalog.

I'd stick with the TM025F1, its a proven winner, and in Aus you can get it from Me technologies for about $32 last time i checked, dont order from the website, call them up.
OK
I will stick with the TM025F1, I was more interested in this one anyway.Which Audax woofers would u guys recommend to go with the TM025F1 Tweeters.
I have been looking at www.audax.com/products/index.shtml and then reffering to http://www.me-au.com/audpl.html to look at the price in AUD.If i get a pair of TM025F1 then I will have AUD$150.00 for a pair of woofers.
What would u guys get.

Is a BASS MIDRANGE the same as a woofer because they dont sell any woofers on the ME-AU site that are under AUD$150.00, all of the ones that are within my prive range such as the AUDAX HP170Z2 6-1/2" are classed as a BASS MIDRANGE.Can any1 help me on this 1.
Jeroth
Jeroth
Yes the woofers you refer to are generally not suited to reproducing midrange material. Something like the **170Z* with the HD-A cone are nice drivers. The 'bass midrange drivers' are what you are after. I'd specifically suggest the HP170Z2. I'll let the other guys tell you the rest of the story.
Thanks
Thanks for clearing that up.So what do you think of the AUDAX HP170Z2 6-1/2" Midrange Bass Driver with a AUDAX TM025F1 Tweeter.Would these go well with each other?

Back to box basics: According to WinISD, the most suitable enclosure for the AUDAX HP170Z2 is 18.8 litres, or .664 cu ft. The box will be bigger than you intended.
OK
Thats fine because I dont intend on buying ready cut boxes off the net anymore, I am going to buy the wood and get it cut to the rite dimensions. So what type of box would be PERFECT for these speakers?
Is there any1 who could post up a design or a link to a box design that would suit these drivers.
Thanks,
Jeroth

Using the WinISD calculations you end up with a box:
12.11 inches wide
18.48 inches high
07.78 inches deep
These are internal dimensions with a box made from MDF 3/4 inch thick.
The vent is a 2 inch tube 3.08 inches long, tuning the enclosure to 52.44 Hz.
Here are the metric values
307 mm wide
469 mm high
200 mm deep
MDF is 18-19 mm thick.
Vent is 51mm diameter and 79 mm long.

Thanks for that, So when I have bought the speakers, should I build a box using these dimensions?
that box is pretty tall and not very deep, that could be something worth changing but seeing as i dont have a calculator and only one hand i cant do it.
25mm Mdf may also be an option, its marginally more expensive and will reduce vibration.
Anyone got the programs to run a crossover?

drivers are fine though, looks like a good match.
i must forwarn you Jeroth, this can develop into an obsession, and a costly one, so be prepared (im talking about DIY btw)

If i made it shorter by, say, 3 in, would i add these 3 inches to the depth of the enclosure, or is it more complex than that. Thanks for the warning about it becoming an obsession, but i think its 2 late(even though ths will be my 1st project).
Thanks for EVERYONES help, it is greatly appreciated.I am just happy that I have finaly decided on drivers.
Now its time for the cross overs.Any ideas any1??😕

Are you looking to learn to build them or would you prefer someone to do it for you??
If you would like to learn here is a great article
http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/crosscalc.asp
and this is Andy Graddon's site,
http://home.iprimus.com.au/gradds/
It has all the info you could need on 1st order series Xovers.
We will also be happy to verify any values that you come up with, ie, post what you come to from those articles and we will tell you if you are on the right track.
PS - Sorry if i am a little slow in my replies, i am typing one handed as i broke a knuckle at hockey last night.
