Where could I possibly place my speakers in my room that actually sounds decent? I've been living in a rented place with all my stuff spread out, and the speakers in the front room. This sounded great!
However, I've moved back to living with my mom due to financial and (her) personal reasons so I'm limited to one room! Here is a plan of what my current room is like, with me mostly sitting at the desk. The arrow shows where the speaker is pointing, and the box shows speaker location. I have no clue what sounds wrong with my new setup, I'm not an audio guru. Speaker placement is the only thing that has changed, along with the furniture.
My current speakers are Mordaunt Short MS5.20's.

maybe change some things..
ok, so first i want to ask u. what do you want to get in an end result? a monitoring room for writing music in? or a decent sounding hifi setup to listen to music already recorded?
for a monitoring room or a home studio:
first of all i would place the speakers facing the other way completely... in between the desk and closet, but a bit further back to the wall... put some pannels behind the speakers so less early reflections go toward u... ..
the speakers seem appart from each other, whats the room dimensions? i would have them into the center a bit more... will make your stereo image way clearer... in addition to this, the desk should move to the "sweet spot"
i would go trial and error and maybe first start with the treatment behind the speakers (fiberglass pannels behind speakers (owen`s corning 705 seems to be the industry standard).. ideally up untill the corner of the wall), maybe a heavy thick curtain for that window if u cant cover it with fiberglass as well, some broadband pannels on the first direct reflection zones on side walls...
/ ceiling treatment (in case first refletions on side walls isnt doing much for flange but if u got a carpet over 1k frequencies should be fine.. ) basstraps on corners always do some good ...
if that isnt reducing your acoustic problems, i would suggest headphones too
for a nice hifi setup, i guess u just have to move em around and get a nice feel aint it 🙂 closer from the corners will be more aparent loudness/and bassyness. Best normally to have some space between the speakers and the walls.

C'mon, headphones don't allow the sound to travel.

Why not put the top one down to the left so it is in the corner opposite to the other one. Stack something against it to chamfer it toward the nearby walls.
Could be, with some rearranging. The reason I suggested the corner is greater symmetry with the desk, and a forward location for the bed.
