Hey y'all,
I have some creative s700 speakers that need replacing. One of the surround speakers has a cut in the outer surround of the mid driver. So ive decided to open and have a look. These are 2 way speakers and have a crossover inside the box. The tweeter is rated at 4 ohms and the mid driver at 8 ohms. Im thinking of replacing both front surrounds to keep it equal sounding. Im thinking of changing the tweeters aswell.
Stock tweeter is 4 ohms and mid drive 8 ohms and then a crossover.
Im looking to replace with a 6 ohm tweeter and 4 ohm mid driver. Is this possible or i would have to change the crossover as well. Because the amp runs these at 8 ohms, so i dont wanna hookup anything less than 8 ohms and put more load on the amp.

You could try to repair the driver. Less £££ and more than equal chance of success. Over here surrounds can be found at Audiofriends and Speakerrepairshop. They both ship abroad, but there must be suppliers in the UK too.
Good idea. But suppose i do change the drivers, would i need to change the crossover, to get 8 ohms impedence with the new driver and tweeter
Total impedance is dictated by midbass driver impedance, beacuse most od the power is located in that frequency range. If you wish to keep it 8ohm, replacement midbass has to be 8ohm too.
Another problem is compatibility of new midbass with existing box volume/tuning. Youll have to check with some simulator program to see if you have a good working match.
And yes, with different drivers you need to modify the crossover for best results.
In order to exchange drivers for alternate ones, there would have to be an analysis made first. At the very least impedance measurement and T/S parameters. Yes, I suppose that is asking too much.
Or one could go search for a similar loudspeaker kit and stuff the existing cabinets with these. Inductors could be salvaged and repurposed, but that is also too much to ask.

Does this image show the S700 surround speaker to which you are referring?
You could let us see a photo showing the extent of the damage to the driver surround.
I would simply seal the cut (front and rear) with this permanently flexible black sealant:
