Speaker protection relay Fujistu replacement FRL-264 options

An electrical contactor with 16A rating, and suitable coil voltage will be an option as well, if chassis mounting can be done.
The purpose of the amplifier output relay is to avoid annoying turn on and turn off "thump" sound from the speakers. Another function is to disconnects the speaker immediately if there is short circuit, over current or DC detected on amplifier output.
However, almost all relays have a minimum load requirement is that the mechanical action of closing coupled with an actual current flow are required to ’whet’ the contact and break through a layer of oxidation that invariably builds up.
When a amplifier turned on, its output relay will connect the speaker to the amplifier output after a few seconds delay, usually no current will flow through its contact (dry contact), therefore an electrical contactor with high current rating is not an ideal solution to use as amplifier output relay. That is one reason that small signal relays generally use gold plated silver contact to resist oxidation, but gold is expensive and would simply be burnt off under high current power switching conditions.
My advice if you like 1 time solutions: use a 8 or 10A rated 24V 2 pole relay with hard silver bifurcated contacts of a reputable brand on an adapter PCB.
+1👍
There's Amplimo LRZ loudspeaker relay is a special relay designed specifically for amplifier output connect to speaker. It has two contact areas (bifurcated contacts), one tungsten contact which will engage first and release last, can switch 100A at 50V to take the arc upon making and breaking contact for loudspeaker current. And a gold plated silver contact which will engage last and release first, giving negligible contact resistance even at small currents to bypass the tungsten contact.
The Amplimo LRZ relay is SPST (Form A), one for each channel is required. IMHO, it is one of the best amplifier output relay other than MOSFET solid state relay.
