Hi Everyone,
I'm moving into a place and need to decide which is the best wall for my speakers and listening position. All the advice online shows enclosed rooms, which doesn't help with real world open living floor plans.
Do I place on the short or long wall? I have some difficult doorways and kitchen etc.
I intend to have two bookshelf speakers (B&W 805) on stands and a 3 seater lounge in this room. I also want to install panels to first reflection points and possibly ceiling.
I've attached a layout and some photos from the realestate listing.
Really appreciated your input.

It doesn't look like there is an easy place to spread those speakers out on the short walls so I suspect the long wall opposite from the kitchen would be best. Ultimately measurements and your ears are going to tell the story.
I think you're kinda forced to place them on the long wall as everywhere else is in the way.
All that tiled floor is going to be an issue, the place must sound like a bathroom or airport acoustically 🙂

Hang open baffle speakers from the ceiling!
I did this in my house and love the result. The speakers are up and out of the way.

I don’t know if that’s an option for your speakers, but it’s outside the box.
Similarly, some foamcore Karlsonators would be light enough to hang from the ceiling.
