my friend has a mini system (cd player and amp built in together) but there is no line out. he wants to make a pair of gainclones and connect it to his mini system to power his subs. how could he connect the gainclones to the mini system's speaker outputs?😕

You'd need a pair of 'high level ins' like they have on some car audio power amps ( for those head units that dont have RCA pre-outs on the back of them )

Re: speaker out ---> amp in
Hi,
fig 1 shows symetrical attenuator which you can use, but problem is with noise figure from amp build in mini system.(useless attenuation after amplification)
Better way is open enclosure of mini system and building inside rca plugs and taking signal after attenuator, before internal amps.(fig 2)

Matttcattt said:is the resistor accross the output 470R or 470K? 470R seems a bit low.
Hi,
this is 470R, with 4k7 make attenuator (amp output is about 20dB to high), and this value must be lower about 10 times than input impedance of GC.

Hi,
elco are OK, bipolar elco or MKT will be better.
