I was wondering how easy it is to remove the sticky side of the tape. Blu tack has good damping qualities too apparently, and can even be used as ear plugs 🙂

There's an alternative called Black Tack which is like an industrial version of Blue Tack, but a lot stickier - a property the OP desired.

Easy. One sticks the tape to the driver, not the enclosure.

Use any material, even cork can do,
