I want to use speaker grill fabric to cover a couple of holes in the wall in which are mounted loudspeakers. I want to match the color of the speaker grill fabric with the color of the wall. I am thinking of painting the speaker grill fabric with flat latex wall paint. Has anyone tried doing this before? Any recommendations? Thanks!
Isn't grill fabric some type of polyester? Paint seems like it won't work. The material has stretch which means the paint will flake. Plus, it might not be acoustically transparent. You'd probably have to dye it like you would tie-dye a shirt I think.
There's a lot of colored grill cloth you can buy out there so you don't have to go through this stuff...

I am looking for speaker grill fabric that is pure white or very, very light gray in color. There does not seem to be a lot of choices out there. I would appreciate any links you could suggest. Thanks.
Closest i've seen is light almond, but there was a thread on here a while ago with a link to a manufacturer.... best I can do.
You didn't specify the type of material that you wish to use. I don't know whether or not open cell foam is available in white, but woven polyester is offered. One source would be Parts Express. Try the link below:

Personally, I wouldn't try painting any speaker "grill cloth".
