I can understand why you would want to lower the "crisp" behavior of the Peerless/Scan-Speak though..
I can imagine based on the Elsinore's published response that needs [for my hearing] a ~4-10 kHz notch filter.

I believe the crisp vs warm (in my words) phenomenon comes from the dynamic performance of the drivers. While some drivers might exhibit low distortion over a relatively wide dynamic range - and thereby produce a crisp sound - others might have a dynamic range that is characterised by progressive dynamic compression that begins to manifest at a lower level.
This is my hypothesis. If it is correct, then the way to reduce crispness is to introduce dynamic compression. Perhaps you can experiment with putting a light bulb in series. I mean the incandescent type. It has a resistance that has a positive coefficient of temperature, meaning that its resistance will increase as its temperature increases. Current through it will cause I^2R heating. It might take some work to find the right light bulb.

First, all, ty so much. I believe you all narrowed down some things for me to investigate and I have my work cut out for certain...
Have been noticing lately ringing in the ears ;( In all fairness, not only from listing to music at home, I get it on and off throughout the day. Gonna have to visit the doctors office, hoping its a simple ear infection. Pretty sure it is, usually Im well balanced. Lately have noticed myself not so solid footed...
But, figure while im at it, to take it easy on the old drums...
Thing is, since day 1 with these amazing speakers, I feel like something is missing or I have a hair too much of something.
Gonna check my Xover, may be I made a bone head mistake. Gonna try some caps as well..
