I got a Meng X1 amp. Supposed to have 24 Watts. I've been playing it on my CDM 7NTs, but those are not very sensitive and need about 50-120 Watts to drive normally.
It works at the moment, but I do have to crank up the amp quite a bit!
I was thinking of getting something else, something more sensitive for the tube amp. Say, in the 95+ dB region.
Can anyone advice me of some good options that don't break the bank? I was considering in price region between 200-300 GBP if possible. Second hand is acceptable too, and I would also consider DIY, though I don't really have much time in the coming months, and depending on the coming month, maybe not for another year and a half!
Anyway, I'd still consider DIY though...
Oh, and preferably not too big!! MY CDM 7NTS are quite big, so something smaller than that, maybe bookshelf size? but if that's not obtainable, then a bit bigger than that would have to do...
Note to moderators, in this forum I specifically look for full range options. I have a similar post on the multi-way speaker forum, but since both threats are likely to give very different answers, it will extend my possibilities, so I like to keep them as separate entities...

Keeping it small is going to make it harder, especially in the bass department. Nevertheless, numerous choices exist and each person here will have a unique recommendation.
For starters, we need more info. Your music preferences and volume preferences are a good start. Add to that maybe questions like: list the speakers you've used in the past and describe their weaknesses and strengths according to 'your' ear. That way people here might be able to steer you toward drivers and designs that capitalize on your desires.

Music style is quite diverse. The extreme end is metallica (garage days inc. Only. None of their other stuff), stevie ray vaughan and other blues, lots of jazz, santana, sting, coltrane, miles Davis, sade. Mostly vinyl, but occasionally sacd.
So far I played through solid state with b&w cdm 7nt and a reference 1 sub.
I'm using the yaqin ms12b as pre. Since it has 2 outputs I was considering an active sub for lows, making the speaker size more flexible.
