It will probably increase the voltage a lot. I am confident that the NOS 5y3 are very good! Totally different smoother than 5ar4...
Bronco, you only need to replace the first tube, the second tube is a buffer so rolling it makes no audible difference.
I like the new Tung sol, The n.o.s. are a little upgrade, I had a bargain buying some air force ones that are weird looking, they are nearly as good as the smoked versions, that is what I use because I had many and could find a very closed matched pair.
I was recently tempted to get into the Chinese tubes because they look well made. I don't want the Russian opaque sound or the Chinese sound.

That is what I use as cathode followers in my power amp, JAN (airforce?) coin base GE 12sn7gt.
On my aikido FAA (GE) 6sn7gt, same coin base, they are super nice,
FAA is like the air force, no clue but it sounds nearly as good /similar as the RCA smoked ones , ken-rad etc.

mmm the 5y3 and variants is very smooth and has power
The SP-14 board uses a 6 volt rectifier and 6SN7s. There is no option for 12SN7s.
