Hi Kenshin, high power high frequency BJT?

Hi Kenshin, high power high frequency BJT?

I know the biggest BJT for HF is around 100watt. Some are used for HF Amp, or vertical deflection of TV like BU508A.

Could you tell me, any BJT that can be used as power stage for class-d? Something new! If as good as vertical mosfet it is mean that simplify the circuit, because no discharge gate.

"My camera isn't very hi-res, I'll take more with my dad's cam!"

I can't believe that I am reading this thread. The guy's admission that he has to borrow his dad's camera ought to be a dead giveaway that it is some kid........just like we were all at one time...........trying his hardest to make something cool. And convinced that it is, even when confronted by proof to the contrary.

Yes, we need to not discourage him, but we need to set him in the right direction. I'm sure that he will initially think that we are all a bunch of cranky old farts, ganging up against him, just to burst his bubble.

Ok.......listen up, bub.....

I am the only cranky old fart in the thread. I am not in cohoots with any of the "kids" in the thread. But trust me, there is almost no way that your baby is a Class D amp. Take the constructive criticism as being constructive, and try to learn all that you can about what is and isn't Class D. Invest in some decent test equipment. Your ears may be the most important ones, but you are going to need some of the fancy electrical ones to make a real Class D amp.

Hi All,

Jocko, you are correct, I am still a kid. I would really like to thank every one for their help with this piece of ****. This was my first attempt at Class D and I now know that it isn’t. The principle of this “THING” came from a book. Well after Chris was the first person to point me in a direction, I started doing some extra research… The guy who wrote that book claimed to have an honour degree in EE. I got in contact with that University from where he claimed to have gotten his degree, and they checked up on his history for me. He was thrown out of that University 10 years ago for cheating in his second year. The University is busy with further investigations on that person.

Sorry that I had to waste time with this THING. I really don’t think of you as ‘old farts’ in fact I have gained a lot of respect for you as you are willing to help me. Let me just give my definition of an ‘old fart’, that’s the guy who led me into the wrong direction. Everyone who has replied to this THING has given me a new look on classD. No one has tried to bring me down, the help has only brought me up and I appreciate it.

As a first year student, I have learnt a very valuable lesson, use more than one source when doing research! I already have a certificate in science, engineering and technology and have had electronics as a hobby for over 10years, I can build really cool stuff. I have built a couple of hundred amplifiers in that time, just tried something else, didn’t work.

I think that my test gear will qualify as fancy, as I have 2 HP scopes, 2 HP spectrum analyzers 1 Tectronix portable scope and Fluke Meters, will all of this help with building Class D amplifiers?

I tried, failed, and I will try and try again.

Thanx for all the help.

Regards,

Werner

I uses some middle power device, 2SB772/2SD882, 30V 3A 80MHz TO-126 package, only suitable for 10W power, and it gives 1% THD.

Hey Werner,

Glad to see you've not been dishartend and i'm also happy to see you have finally got the hint LOL

I was just like you before i tok up electronics for a living. Belive me thinking back to some of my 'babies' i really don't know what i was thinking😀 I've built some strange stuff in my time but it's all part of the learning curve. Take it from me, all you get taught in collage/uni is nothing compared to the experience you gain by hands on work. I look forward to seeing your next attempt. I imagine you now know what class D is all about after the links and help you have recieved in here. so all that remains is to say GoodLuck! and keep on building!!!

If this school you speak of is anything like mine, he'd still be there teaching. I agree hands on is great but hands on also entails alot of research I cant' stress that one enough. With your own research and your own hands on to back it up you really will learn alot more than school could ever do for you. Just keep at it.
