I need a source for direct drive turntable motors. My only requirements are at least 1.5 kg torque. I dont know much about TT motors other than that they are 'High torque brushless DC' .
I will be driving a 7" metal platter with the motor.
And one more thing:
can I control the speed of the motor by controlling the amount of juice (pot on the power)
Note: speed accuracy is not that important, I just need to get near to 33rpm above or below a bit is ok.

Turntables get thrown out at the local landfill site near me quite frequently. Many are the newer type with platter speed, direct drive motor systems. Perhaps a discarded turntable is your best source for a motor and controller circuit. Check the Salvation Army and other thrift stores.
