Mine when you get a chance, and thanks again:

Edit: Can you say anxious? I have been looking at this D100II on my desk everyday for a month. I was just about to start desoldering components and metering them out to get values. 😀

This morning I went out to the truck to discover someone broke in last night. :-(

They stole my a/d/s/ s10 woofer and enclosure for sure, they tore the dash apart trying to take the temporary Clarion Z4xx(?) radio. Fortunately I had not put in my DRX-9255 yet.

I do not know if they got the Orion 280GX, the Servo unit, the Orion 2125SX or the a/d/s/ P640.2 yet. I am waiting for the po po before I go in there looking.

I guess I am happy I left the door unlocked last night because a broken window would have been WAY worse. I left the drivers side door unlocked by accident, but I live in a gated community of half million dollar and up homes (parents home, my son and I are here until the divorce is finished and the court releases my money, then we will buy our own place again)... I would have never expected a vehicle break in here. I would think a home burglary would be more likely.

Oh well, life goes on, and it was only stuff that is easily replaceable... Well sorta, the Servo is a custom made unit from Mr. Erath who is OLD and frail. Once he's gone so is the servo.

**** happens, it is only "stuff". My family and I are safe and healthy. Material things can be replaced.

Po po just completed the report and left.

Did get some stuff, but not my SS D100II, so I can still use the Schematics so I can put this in. 😀

Wow, I didn't think kids even bothered to steal stereo stuff anymore since it is so cheap now. Have not heard of it around here in a long time, sure it goes on but nothing like the old days when amps were$500 in 1980s dollars.

Funny but actually true.. Amps were soooo much more expensive back then.

That sucks, they have good luck with catching them here. Keep an eye on ebay for the stuff. For the kids its $20 in the pocket but it sucks for the person who likes to hear some good music and not some mp3 cranking on a 4,000w pyramid.

Wondering if anybody would be nice enough to send me the D100II and the Class A-50II schematics to my email

bayiganteng@yahoo.com

Sorry to hi-jack the thread, but I've got a quick question.

What's the difference on the board between D200ii and Class A 100ii?
I've been staring long and hard between the two pictures from ampguts.com and still couldn't find the difference.

Anyone can help?? Thx a bunch 🙂

The schematics can be found here: http://www.brockwayelectronics.com/

I'm sure the circuit boards are the same for the D200II and Class A-100II.
That is why they appear to be the same. But some component values
will be different because of the biasing. The toroid is probably
different also, like the D100II and Class A-50.

Well guys, I have come to a difficult decision. I think it is time to sell off all of my D series amps. I has (2) D200 series I, (2) D100 series I, (1) D60 series I, and (1) D60 Series II. They all work great and are in good to exellent cosmetic condition. I have been holding on to them for about 7 years now and still have not used but three of them for about a year. I would like to get as follows, but will consider offers:
D200 = $225 each
D100 = $160 each
D60 = $75 each

Please contact me by email as I only read this forum a few times a year. cwald240sx@charter.net

Make me an offer. I bought it several years ago from a guy that had no idea what it was. I have never used it or tested it and do not know if it works. I just bought it because it was the pinnacle of audio when I was a teen. It is missing the plexi cover (easy to duplicate) and thumb screws as well as the power input plug.

I am digging through old stuff to put together a system for my new truck and found it. I had forgotten that I even had it. I has typical shelf blemishes, but it has never been mounted. I assume that it works fine, but buy at own risk.

The soundstream amps have all been tested and work fine. I just have no good way to test the ALC20.

Class A50

On a side note:

What is the difference between the D100 and the Class A 50?

Is one just biased higher or is there circuit / parts differences?

Thinking positive doesn't make things better, it makes you a better person

The Pure Class A 50 amplifier sounds terrific. I used one to drive my old A/D/S 320is tweeters, off of a Audio Control 4XS.

The D series are AB amplifiers and the Pure Class A 50, is a pure class a amplifier. It's not very efficient, hence it'll get really hot. Hot enough to just about fry an egg.

The mainstream companies mentioned that "ruled the day" were well positioned at the right time for the car audio explosion of the '80s and '90s. Their names will live in infamy. And those names were in the face of everyone with even a passing interest in car audio. Most have changed hands and their efforts today to appeal to the masses have left them all mere shadows of their former selves.

But there were other companies that made products as good or better. Audio Art, Linear Power, Rodek, Alphasonik, Harmon Kardon, to name a few. And how many young guys would believe that Pyle was once a family owned business that actually made really nice gear? I believe that 99% of people have probably never heard of some of the higher end stuff.

Perfect example; my little smart mouthed, 19 year old neighbor laughed at my SQ set-up of Linear Power and a/d/s for no other reasons than he had never heard of either, and the bass wouldn't cave in my head. All he knows is Audiobahn this, and Audiobahn that.

Being able to pick up a true high quality old school amp for cheap on ebay(or elsewhere) undoubtedly has more to do with the lack of knowledge of the prospective buyers than the actual amp itself. I recently bought an old school US made Hifonics 4 channel on ebay for $28. Works perfectly and will easily produce 200x2 bridged into 4 ohms. I now have 6 of these amps, and have a total of less than $350 invested. Everything is relative.

It's funny to me that somebody would cite Kicker or MTX as quality audio companies and denigrate Soundstream. Back in the day Soundstream put out the best equipment available. I don't see any mention here about Soundstream's subwoofers. I had four SS10s in a ported box driven by a 600 watt Hifonics Zeus amp. And A/D/S was what a person would put in a Ferrari. Ignorance is bliss. I don't even understand the class D amps marketed today. Basically it allows companies to market huge power ratings without any regard to power. Might be fine for bass and driving a subwoofer, but come on, class D has nothing to do with sound quality from what I understand, other than lots of power which can hide some sins driving full-range speakers.

I like class D on subs, they don't take near the power and I don't care/can't find much difference in quality for subs. They are making ICE amps now, full range class D like the old tripaths. With subs today you need lots of power to push the inefficiency...and make that tiny box work. But you can find more efficient subs if you look. Still have not tried my SS rub amps or some other old bones I have here, just too cold out and too busy. I have a newish mtx made in china sitting here, PS is only 4 to220 and a pair of small transformers. Small stuff for a 4x70rms.

"It's funny to me that somebody would cite Kicker or MTX as quality audio companies and denigrate Soundstream. "

Back in the dawn (83 / 84) of "big" car audio (not the "loud era" of Jensen tri-ax's and kraco) there were two camps.

Fosgate amps and woofers

OR

Linear Power amps and Kicker woofers.

Kicker did not initially make amps but DID make good woofers for the time.

I think THAT might be where the "Kicker quality" came from.

PS, I happened to fall into the Fosgate camp.

Mosfet Power 650 bridged on a pair of horn loaded Punch Pro 12's, Fosgate 360 on four 8" mid bases, Punch 150 on rear Alpine 6x9's, and Punch 75 on Alpine 6.5's in the front with a pair of Yamaha tweeters on the dash.

Sony XR-3100 TAPE deck(!) Audio Control EQX and boy was that FUN.

Ah the good old days when you didn't know any better... 😀 :angel:
