just a question about this amp, are these passive cooled? because after doing a simple cracked solder joint the fans no longer work. and iam thinking since they worked originally maybe theres a fail safe mode where it give max fan speed and now when everything is up and running it is waiting for a thresshold temp to reach?

The SD12k is an extremely efficient amp, usually can be passively cooled until it’s put under a heavy load and the fans will ramp up accordingly.
It’s just like you said it takes some heat to get em going.
I usually only see fans kick on when doing 10k burps haha!
