Not all amplifiers that I design, I like. I have my favorite too. But I do not share the design 😀
Yeah fair enough 😀
It fun for exploring many possibility in amplifier design. If you want high THD amplifier, just make it. If you want very low THD, just build it. You will understand what the sound different of those amplifiers.
I'm done building other people designs many years ago. Only lately I built the AXL amplifier simply because I haven't done it before (but now I have many clones of it). But I build your amps because I purchase the PCBs for my own needs. And because I think you're good (and I have parts like in electronic shops) then why not hear/build the amp one channel just for the sake of "I have heard it" 😀
At least you admit it. "Hi-end" is populated by deluded deaf old men 😉
The ears are only a link in the chain; ultimately, the brain processes all sensory information. Therefore, you should be nastier and rephrase as "... deluded brain-dead old men". 🙂🙂🙂

Now I think that is the important one.
When I and my wife did a blind listening few days ago. She thought she heard a sound from the woofer and I told her "No, that's not from the woofer. That's the sound of our neighbor closing the car's door... (Something like this happened many times, like "No, that was the sound of the mango leaves on the roof").
My wife is much younger and she has sensitive hearing actually (better than my son). I'm not surprised that she couldn't hear many LF tones that I could easily hear. But the fact that many times I could detail the sound makes me realize that this is a brain thing.
Your high frequency hearing loss could explain that, but no, it's a "brain thing". 😉
Hehehe yeah I'm afraid I may have HF hearing loss. But who knows. I'm wired differently 😀
I don't know why I'm so sensitive to electricity. When I was young I like to touch the 240V for fun and refreshing. Now I can't touch my monitor frame. Can't touch my USB port. Can't touch HDMI port. Can't touch VGA port at work. And worse...
Only since several months ago I couldn't touch amplifiers output!! Even when the amplifier is off (power cable disconnected) touching the crossover connection can give me an electric shock. Touching 240 volt didn't make me scream but these 0-volt things make me scream.
Buy different shoes 😀
A friend of mine carries a resistor in his pocket in wintertime, to discharge before he touches anything lol.

Don't underestimate the ability of the brain to reconstruct damaged/incomplete/unrelated data.
In spite of the sorry state of my ears, my own frequency response is still spot on.
I wish I had a mango tree here in Geneva to test my resolution; or a jackfruit tree, or a mangosteen tree... 🙂
Understanding speech is a problem for people with high frequency hearing loss.Don't underestimate the ability of the brain to reconstruct damaged/incomplete/unrelated data.

Wow thanks! So someone actually know something about this (I hope it doesn't get worse and worse). Initially I was afraid it was kinda brain damage 😀 I have lots of dead NOS Latfets. Probably it was my hand causing it coz I noticed others have no problem with their latfet stocks.
Back to sound quality vs measurement 😀

Don't know how relevant that might be here. One can't control how loud other people talk, but one can control the stereo volume.
There's no doubt in my mind that it's relevant.
That's very true. I'll bet my life on it.

All in all a strong indication for electric discharge. Getting worse with dry air, wrong shoes, clothes... no mystic brain damage at all😉

At what exact degree of HF hearing loss does it become uncompensatable by practical means? Why does it have to be a 1-bit quantized factor?
Hi Peufeu,
Great! PCB for measurement set = time to play!
Micro and 4 channel 12 bit -10..+10V DC DAC operational. As usual, what takes most time is ironing out buggy example code from the internet...
You'll have to ask an audiologist. I'm guessing, not much, when you look at how much it decreases by.At what exact degree of HF hearing loss does it become uncompensatable by practical means?
Some hearing aids can be quite painful to those with normal hearing. A good hearing test also checks for comprehension under acoustic stress.
But, if you sell X and want the sales to continue, what would you do? You would post all sorts of claims, a.k.a FUD.What I said was: If you cant hear X, why do you have to chase X.
