Are you holding the resistors in your fingers when you measure them? That can make for some big errors depending on your skin moisture level. Is the battery in your DMM fresh?

Fresh bats, no fingers (resistor rests on one of the plastic bags, from SupKit, at the edge of a desk) and ran the probes up & down the leads to break any oxidation. Fluke 8060A meter measures 331r3 & 282r2 . Also, probe leads were nulled out.

Well clearly the 331R is "perfect" as the rated tolerance is for the resistors is 1%. 1% resistors are considered "overkill" by many.

I doubt very much that Nelson is assuming 1% resistors. More like 10% probably

It surprises me that you measured 282R for the second one but I doubt it makes any difference at all.
The 282R is surprising as the Vishay-Dale resistors usually exceed spec.

I'm hoping Zennie or Nelsonie pops up and puts your mind at ease. If not- we'll talk....

Dumb question: Are the markings on the resistors the same? (Wondering if
you might have been received a wrong value resistor.) Otherwise it would be pretty
unusual for a resistor to be this much out of spec.

Same markings, yes. They are on tape reel.

Thanks. (I was wondering if they might have been loose RN55 resistors
with goofy resistance codes that were mispackaged.)

I think your diligence shows why it's always a good idea to measure the parts
before use. (But dang it's weird for a CMF55 to be out of spec like that.)

Hopefully other members will also measure their parts, in case there are
other outliers...

Cheers,
Dennis

Yes always measure all resistors to know real component specyfications and i can match R pairs for symmetry
so my left and right pcb circuits are "mirror images" ..but wait...we have trimmers so is not necessairy.
I do anyway is hobby pleasure on the work bench.
Dale and Vishay or TCC i tested last month's was all in spec ok.
I like clean resistors legs oxidation to make them brights & shine
that soldering flow is little easer and good for sound quality as well.
Do you see clean legs R on my photo ?
Greetings :)

Ichiban, sorry everyone was scheptical but you clearly have experience and did things correctly. As we all said, it's SO unusual to have the Vishay-Dales be worse than spec, that no one could believe it!

I can mail you a couple if we still have some extras, we probably do..if you can't get them locally. You can get hold of me via PM
