Sony tts 8000 speed problem

My old TTS 8000 has developed a speed problem, it can't get enough. Well really it gets too much. The tt will run happily for a day or so then it chucks a wobbly and loses its control. It just keeps running faster and faster until it has the power turned off, it won't respond to the touch control either. I know that parts are unobtainable nowadays, any help or suggestions for service would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Peter.

I've had this problem on 2 of my decks and this worked out fine.
1) Remove platter
2) look for two small holes next to each other, where the platter was, they may be marked 33 & 45
with arrows going in both directions showing plus or minus.
3) get a small screwdriver or jewelers screwdriver and find top of adjustment
screws (in the small little holes) and turn a little in opposite direction of your problem. This may take a while getting it right but it does work providing the adjustment screws are there to begin with.also this is a good time to spray a little switch cleaner/lubricant w/ nossle attachment in those holes
4) If the adjustment screws are not there and you have knobs to adjust speed/pitch you could try spray some of that switch/lubricant there behind the knob, just make sure its a rotary knob and not a electronic switch.
I hope this helps that is one heck of deck you have there one of sony's best
B.C. (before compactdisc) 😀 Cheers Cheap shot

Cheap Shot,
thanks for the reply, unfortunately this is not solveable by using the fine trim. I.E you cannot achieve speed trim at one end of your pitch wheel.
This has something to do with the motor control frequency shifting, I suspected the Osc section but this is ok. So now it is time to remove the board and send it to England to Vantage audio.
