Update
The clock system has been in place now for over 4 months and has proved to be both reliable and the player itself is a whole lot more pleasant to listen to.
I use it both for CD playback (occasionally) and SACD playback. On CD my Lambda Drive/Assemblage combo is a little more musical overall, however I just bought a PSA Ultralink II with HDCD support and expect that will further raise the bar on my CD playback.
The Sony is quite acceptable on CD, it is just a little thinner sounding overall than the PSA.
I do plan to build an internal dedicated DSD decoder and bring its outputs out separately from the delta sigma converter - see how that goes.
