Does anyone out there have a service manual for this machine? There should be a way to get it into test mode (by shorting two pins on the PCB).

Hi There,
I'm working on a Sony DAT recorder, prof version with aes ebu etc. This unit does have the same problem as you have had once I think.
Cassette does load but no play and rewind etc. tape load mechanism works but no play and no turning head!
What did you find out about this? Or do you have a service manual allready?

i have about the same problem as you had. the recorder takes the tape triest to run it tape does not move and the machine spits it out again.
now what did you do about it?
i work a a tech but i dont have experience with DAT!
