sony cdp-361 mods

Hi all. I have a old Sony CDP-361 that has and still serves me well. It has a optical out and i have been thinking about a DAC and using it as a transport. Are there any mods that would be called for i hate to spend 500-600$ for a new player that may or may not sound that much better than what i have now. So any recommendations?
