Sony CDP 3100 / C-J DF-2

Any advice please.....

I have a Sony CDP 3100 S,
I have had it from new, and it is lightly used, no remote etc, being a bit of pro kit from my old firm. I have seen some mention of them being really good CDPlayers.

My question is, is it better than putting an off board dac onto my Conrad-Johnson DF-2 (CDM 12 mech) which I understand from their website is already fairly modded and clocked.

And, If I were to look for an offboard dac/kit where should I start? I don't really seem to be able to find proper specs on what I have now in the C-J.
