According to the service manual of my CD player, the CD Mech is a
Sony CDM-14-5BD20. Does anyone have any idea about where I can get a spare?
Yes I do know that Sony mechs usually come with a KSM prefix. But this one is CDM-14-5BD20. It could be a different name for a KSM mech. If so, which KSM mech is it?
Thanking you in advance.

Netlist,
It's a Rotel RCD-991AE CD player.
This CD Mech/Loader is also used by Arcam.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Hi, in the well known CD-DAC list Rotel RCD-991 is listed with KSS-213B sony mechanism. It seems to be supported by an other post I found.
HTGuide Forum - Rotel RCD 991 AE
HTGuide Forum - RCD-991AE vs. RCD-991
However, I did not find anything why KSS-213B is called differently if, identical to
CDM-14L.
Hope it helps!
The KSS213 is the laser assy as used in the Sony CDM14-BD25 which was the OEM offering from SONY that Arcam, Musical Fidelity, TALK Electronics etc used - If you are trying to replace the laser ( because it is worn out then the laser assy has it's replacement number on a label on it - KSS***) - The BD20 was not a variant that I am aware of though I doubt it was significantly different to the BD25 - hope this helps😛
As it happens I have been looking for a spare mechanism for a Rotel RCD991 too! The RCD991 does not use the KSM213 as listed elsewhere on the web, rather it uses the BU-5BD20 and the only source of this I have found so far is used mechanisms from old Sony players including CDP-XE200/300/400/500/210/310. According to their service manuals these all use the CDM-14 loading mechanism, so the whole thing can be replaced easily. The Sony CDP761 also uses the BU-5BD20 as used in the Rotel. I hope this helps.

By Sony's base unit (BU) numbering there are not helpful informations on the web but in several service manuals.
