Hello everyone, I need a suggestion from you - may I use the a.m. bluray player as a source to my DAC, using it as a flac, ape etc, reader or it is not reccomendable ?
Many thanks for you attention

I'm currently using a BDP-6700 as a source. IMO, it's one of the most versatile, inexpensive digital sources out there. It does however have a few shortcomings.
1. The coaxial output is limited to 48khz. If you're not concerned with Hi-Res, this doesn't matter
2. If it's power gets interrupted, it loses it's memory. It has also occasionally had a "power hiccup" upon startup. Either way it requires going through the wifi setup process again.
Now for the good parts.
1. It will play CD's, SACD's and just about any digital file format available.
2. Using the Sony Music Center app, it can be used as a "headless" source. Pretty much everything can be controlled from the app. Including a file browser for USB sticks/hard drives plugged into it's USB port. The app actually responds a lot quicker for file browsing compared to using the remote and a screen.
3. These players are DLNA compliant. So you can stream from Tidal, Qobuz, etc. I use BubbleUpnp for this.
And these things can be found cheap on the used market. I have two. I paid around $5 each from a thrift store.
