Sonus Faber Electa Amatur tweeter

To be honest, I don't really believe in replacing the dome of such an expensive tweeter with a cheap Chinese replacement, but I might be too demanding.

If the speakers were mine I would look for an original replacement, if I found one and thought its cost was worth the effort I would just replace it.
If the speakers were mine and if I could find two identical tweeters in the exact same conditions at a "fair" price then I would replace them both.
All of the above provided that the spare parts were at a "fair" price and really new and then in excellent condition.

Since I know that often an audio component does not last forever in a system, I would also evaluate this possibility and I would first identify my real goal and then evaluate whether the cost is worth the effort.

If cost is not a parameter and if my goal was to bring two refined vintage Italian speakers back to life, the even expensive replacement of the original tweeters would certainly be my choice.
If the speakers were mine.

Anyway, treating your speakers well and judiciously both physically and electrically and you won't need any replacement domes, I think.

Guys the china esotar tweeter arrived ( not the dome but the melo davis or david louis type)… well my take on this is that… it sounds great BUT i havent plug end game amps on it tho. Just a good denon 800 and it sounds absolutely the same. Im just waiting for a high end amp to simply test these

well to be honest ur right but since my 1 tweeter got busted then ill try the coil that i ordered (i mean the china 1) if its not the same well… why not. If all seems doomed. Ill go for the original 1000$ tweeter tho. Just wanna try all.

I agree to try everything you have, since you ordered everything you could! 😳

A bit more seriously, if it is this, can you tell me out of curiosity how much it weighs compared to an original one?

I tried listening both esotar t330 (old not broken one) and the melo david t330 using a denon 800pma amp. The music is quite the same. (Remember i tried rewiring or attaching coil with the broken t330, upon listening to u can really tell that its different) compared to the melodavid (well this one is brand new) its quite the same sound.

BUT i havnt listened to it using audio research and maybe ill try mcintosh hi end amps and get back to you.

But fot the denon. Or low end amps its quite good.

For your information the mid woofer was made for SF by Dynaudio at times Per Skaaning was working there . Audio Technology can still supply suspension and voice coil if you manage to blow the driver.
Cone coating was done at Sonus Faber

I will check the weight my busted tweeter is still in the tech. bUT its quite heavy almost the same as the original. But havnt measured it exactly but yeah. It really is heavy.

So far based on all forums we dont have problems on mid woofer and it is really made by SF but we always have a busted tweeter, well its 30 years old
It might have been assembled at SF but parts were provided by Dynaudio. I know that from talking to Per Skaaning and ordering the parts needed.
I wouldn't mind buying a single Electa Amator from first batches which didn't have cover grills to match my orphan. Otherwise it's destined to be a center channel for a pair of Signums. First order crossover and busted tweeters go hand in hand🙂
