@elviukai Thanks!
Indeed the two Scan Speak drivers have different VC heights (see below)
Not sure I can measure the VC height without dismantling the whole driver. Here is a picture of the coils (any useful?).
The 15M/4531K00 (Voice coil height 11 mm) is sold as a "MIDRANGE", while the 15W/4531G00 (Voice coil height 17.5 mm) is sold as a "MIDWOOFER".

Its s not first time i see member raelman telling completley false facts. On top of that he was quite unpleaseantly insistable in PM over and over again.
M series Cremona uses OEM scan speak midranges. I made few photos. Please stop spread false facts and mislead forum members.

Thanks. I tried to measure it pushing the cone. Not easy to measure it exactly since the difference in VC height is only 5mm and access is restricted. However, from what I can see, my (original) Cremona Midrange seems based on the short VC (i.e. 15M/4531K00), which is 11mm, the long one (17.5mm) might be the Midwoofer.
Does anybody know if there has been any real customization done by SF on this driver (they really look identical!) or SF focused mainly on the the design of the cross-over? Thanks.

(Most) of the cremona drivers have diferent cone- more fibers than scan speak versons (in M version they went to even more fibers and changed dustcap design) It does measure a bit diferently in 3-5khz , but also sound diferent. custom driver also had lower QMS. there also was slight crossover revision during production. Whether is a big concern on old speaker repair another question. Some other manufacturers had even more extensive modificatons- system Audio for example used red pulp and aluminium voice former. Hope this helps.
I own a pair of Sonus Faber Cremona (not M) and I was forced to disassemble one of the midranges as it stopped working. It says "made in Denmark" but the maker is not specified. Sorry I did not take a picture. Its s not first time i see member raelman telling completley false facts. On top of that he was quite unpleaseantly insistable in PM over and over again.

BTW, I am taking this oportunity for asking for advice: if I plug the "silent" midrange directly to the amp it works, so I have reason to believe that the problem is in the crossover (please correct if I am wrong, I am extremely naive in this field). How can the crossover be accessed and disassembled?
Thanks for your help

where is it?I'm not any expert in speakers not building them.
I just bought these speakers at a good price and the seller told me the problem was the voice coil broken at some point.
The drivers are not in good condition, dust cap has been damaged and pushed and I have asked to Sonus Faber dealers for price, but it looks that it is going to be very difficult to find them because they are discontinued.
I don't think they can be repaired because the former owner tried to do it and the speaker is in bad condition. Coils wires are broken and I suppose that it has to be changed.
I don't know who will be able to do that and, in case it can be done. Anyway the looking of these midranges are terrible and I would like to replace them.
Regarding to crossover, this is the picture I could get

UPDATE:
I proceeded and purchased an off-the-shelf ScanSpeak MIDRANGE driver (15M/4531K00) and installed it. It works perfectly well. I do not hear/see any difference from the original. They look the same to me (great news for anybody who needs to do maintenance).

Interesting: thank you for posting. Do you know if the failure was caused by the failed crossover? Can you ask which parts failed (resistors/capacitors/inductors)? Also, was it easy to remove the crossover?
Hello, I don't have the answer you asked for but I'm sharing my experience in case it can be useful to some.
I have 3 bass woofers and 1 Midrange from my cremona (non M) that have burned out. They are all scan speak. The French importer confirmed modifications without giving me any details.
The woofers have the reference wof 030002 AND the scan speak identifier 18w/8531G03.
The Midrange has the reference wof 030001 but no scan speak reference.
In France I haven't found anyone to redo the coils. The price of e new Sonus Faber bass woofers is 580 euros each. For those who are interested I have a used wof 030002 that is functional. If anyone can I would like to have my other repaired which have the coil out of order.
Good evening to all.
