Hello
Last week I read about a Dane who has been "copying" these really nice speakers on a Danish hifi forum. The discussion is mainly in Danish but the picture will show you how he has built the enclosures with curved backs. The final x-over is being designed and tested as you read this...
I am trying to get him to do a proper article about it... iwould be willing to translate for you folks....

Nice
The Sonus speakers are nice. The fellow also did a nice job on the cabinets. The pictures of the cabinets seem to document the work he has done. Of course, the details are missing. Sure this is a worth wile project.
So did friend use the expensive Scan Speak tweeters and or the rest of the drivers Scan Speak. Of course, the size of the cabinet and the crossover would be interesting

Not a friend (unfortunately)
If you look to some of the later pages his designer describes the units... they are from Vifa

The SF's use proprietary drivers so this is not a clone, just something that looks like one.
I've been planning on doing something very similar myself. Almost exactly the same build-style actually.
Can you tell me what he did to achieve the textured black baffle?
Did he say he used a power hand planer to get those angles on the front baffle? That's pretty impressive if he just did it free hand.

Front
Yes he did the front with a hand held sander and he was dreading it but he stated that it was easier than he thougt........ the finish is not that important as the covers are being clad in leather

So he used real leather on those baffles?
I've been wanting to do that too, but I haven't figured a way to wrap around the baffle so it looks good. Maybe a stretchable vinyl or something like that would be easier.

I thought about the leather, too, but I finally didn't use it in my last speakers.

but I came to a good solution to do the leather thing. Simply route with a thin bit a square like perimeter, glue the leather and hide the outer part of it in the magginot line you have created. The bit should be very thin, though.
