Sonotube - Any tried and true designs that have been perfected?

I'm wanting to build a sonotube. I've done some minor research and tried to look at as many designs as I could find.

I really haven't been able to find any examples of sonotube subs that indicate that they've been tweaked and can't really be improved any farther...and give excellent results.
Pretty much all the projects are from people calcuating a design and simply commenting on its performance. I guess what I'm looking for is a SPECIFIC design that multiple people have built and agree that its pretty much tweaked...as far as design specs go.

Either a 12" or 15" is a possibility for me.

If you have a lot of room you can build a non-tapered TL. I made one and have it all painted and ready to go for my school play! I'll follow up on another thread for the pics. Of course, I'm doing the audio...
OH yeah, Sonotubes, so, I was thinking of an 8 foot long tube tuned around 35Hz. or so and using some stuffing, HUGE SPL levels and TERRIFIC POWER AND SOUND! I had neighbours that lived eight houses down complaining...HEHEHE! We also had to transport the bugger in a Saturn! That was hilarious as, there was sooo much pressure in the car you can hear the stress on the frame and windshield adhesive, etc.

Are you aware of Nelson Pass's "El Pipo?" I'm not sure that you can say it is "perfected" but he and his guys did some real development, and I think it would be well worth building. Anyway, this here is all about learning stuff, not just cloning.

See it at Passdiy.com

Vince, thanks for the tip on El Pipo...I'll check it out.

As for cloning....my problem is that I spend TOO much time learning that many times I never actually end up with an end product...the 'never satisfied' syndrome.

...off to see what all this Pipo business is about 😎

By the time the article reaches a conclusion, the thing has morphed into something simpler than they started with, and in the conclusion they talk about 8" drivers. All that seems quite reasonable, so I don't know how much cheaper you can get.

If you had any questions about a smaller version, I'm sure that they would be willing to entertain them. That's the great thing about those Pass guys.

For what it's worth, I'm planning on building a pair of 10'' diameter 8+ foot tall sonotube subs with some Dynaudio 9" woofers (24W75 fs 33hz) within the next month or so. I've been scouring the net for all the info I can find on TL-sonotube subs ala the Pass El-Pipo (and that design seems to set the standard, if there is such a thing) but not finding a great deal of info that not already learned via the Pass site. Apparently there seems to be a bit of magic called for in any TL design, regardless of drivers, enclosure material or 1/4 wavelength formula used. I will post results once my subs are completed and encourage further discussion on this most interesting subject. PS: As for aesthetic concerns, being fond of Australian Aboriginal art, I will paint the tubes flat black and then adorn them with thousands of colored dots in traditional Abo motifs...who knows, maybe I'll call them El Didgeridoo's!
