Could the Sonic Impact be bridged into a single channel 30-watt amp?
I want to install some Sonic Impact 5066 amps to replace the headunit amp in my car.
I have a Mac Mini carputer and touchscreen that replaced the headunit.
I plan on using my stock speakers, so I don't need much power.
I understand all the power filtering I need to do, and I have the resources to do the basic upgrades to the amplifier.
Idealy I could install one Sonic Impact per speaker.
The spec sheet on the amp looks like it's made to drive two speakers, and only two, but you guys know more about bridging speakers then I do.

Apparently it can't be bridged because each channel is already bridged internally.
That's wot people tell me.😱

Each channel is already bridged, to get the maximum output from 12-14V.
For that reason (among others) don't try connecting to 3-pin headphones.

Hey cpemma (Assume your the same from bit-tech), good to see ya.
Ya, that is the story I am getting from the guys at my work.
Tripath's higher power amps seem to be pin-compatible and use the same external circuitry.
I wonder if you could just use the Sonic Impact as a base and upgrade the Amp chip for a bit more power. (Small heatsink mabye)

Hi, Zap, only 1 cpemma 🙂
Have a look at the kits from 41Hz, a bit more expensive than the SI but still beer-money. Amp6 will go a mite louder before distortion gets OTT but fitting the music signal into +/-7V (less losses) slot is the limiter on wattage in any car amp without an inverter to step the supply up.
Having got the T-Amp, it's given me the confidence to go Amp6, see Panomaniac's site for the bass extension (and useful power figures).

We need to get the Wiki/FAQ posted at the top of this forum page.
Seems like no one is finding or reading it.
Always the same questions....
Can the moderators make the FAQ or a link to it, a sticky at the top?

I did discover the 41hz kits in my travels yesterday, and ordered two Amp 3 kits.
If I need more then 25 watts per channel it's not a huge loss, and I can use the amps somewhere else in the house.
