OK, here’s a new topic – moronic songs that one can’t stand to listen to.
These three get my vote as the most irritatingly stupid songs ever written:

If God was one of us – Joan Osbourne (daaarrrrr darrrr........darrrrr darrrrr)
Afternoon Delight - Starland Vocal Band (“Sky rockets in flight” “WTF?)
Ironic - Alanis Morissette ("Isn't it Irr....."....Urgghh, NO!.....buy a dictionary dummy......)

[/RANT]

:dead:

Anything by Bon Jovi
Anything by Middle of the Road
Anything by Golden Earring
Anything by Norah Jones
Anything by Britney Spears
Anything by Shania Twain
Anything by The Pet Shop Boys

The final countdown - Europe.
Agadoo - Black Lace
Achy Breaky Heart- Billy Ray Cyrus
Driving home for Christmas - Chris Rea
We Didn’t Start the Fire - Billy Joel
We built this city - Starship
I would stay - Krezip

Being slightly uncharitable here, but:

We Are the World - USA For Africa (read the lyrics and cringe)
Do They Know It's Christmas? - Band Aid (an apt name)
Ferry across the Mersey.... :violin:

and most other "charity" records.

Nothing more sickening that luvvies trying to be sincere. Yuck.

I never cared for any of her music either but those videos are just amazing.
Yes...stunning I have to admit...😀

Do agree though that U2 were OK up to about 1983.
They lost the plot after the Joshua tree.

Ah yes..they were SOOO popular in South Africa when I lived there..it was hard not to hate them!

Norah is not really bad...but I grow tired very quickly of her monotonous voice.

ok, when i go to a party and the DJ plays sandstorm, cascada, pendulum (any drum n bass), neophyte, or two step trancey headbangers like skazi, i just want to kill myself due to overwhelming cheesiness. Also i hate bob dylan- his voice pisses me off even if the lyrics and instrumentals are meaningful. Paul oakenfold shoulda retired long ago. Then theres the whiney screaming rock kids are into today... thats my 8

Here's my top three:

1. Hey Hey Paula by Paul and Paula. This countryish song was number one in New York City for two or three awful months back in the real early sixties. Still can't believe it-New York went for this hokum? For those inclined to check out the song to see what was so bad, try imagining listening to it thousands of times over three months.

2. Copacabana by Barry Manilow. "Nuff said.

3. Girls Nite Out by Tyler Collins. The background had a chorus of female voices purposely singing "Night Night Night out, night night night out" to sound like "nyaah nyaah nyaah". Like these were third graders in the schoolyard. The video consisted of the singer doing a strip show.

Lol yes you are right, it was the Pixies... somehow I was transfixed in a moment almost 20 years ago, with school friends listening to both... I think U2 was playing and one of my friends haad the Pixies album in his hands... lol and I ironicaly know pixies music very well.. (bit of a Frank Black fan).

I actualy enjoy good machine made music too... not danceing stuff (one needs a temporary chemical adjustment to enjoy that), but mood music like Autechre... and Plaid.

Anything by the Eagles, U2, or post-Police Sting. Anything machine-made (e.g., nearly all techno).

LOL.
I take it you don't have that popcorn record in your collection then?

Da......da.......dut-dut-dut--dar--dut
Da......da.......dut-dut-dut--dar--dut
Da......da.......dut-dut-dut--dar--dut
Da......da.......dut-dut-dut--dar--dut
Dar Dar dut da dar dut dut dut dut dar dut da da dar dut.......

Urgh.

Achy Breaky Heart, Macarena, Don't Worry - Be Happy, who let the dogs out, Mambo No. 5, ymca.

We built this city by Starship needs mentioning again.

"Oh Mickey, you're so fine/You're so fine you blow my mind, hey Mickey hey hey hey Mickey"

Have that stuck in your head for a few days.😡

1. Warren Zevon - talk about pretentious

2. The Band - most of it just isn't music

3. The Grateful Dead - their music + their fans = zero

4. The Rolling Stones from Some Girls onward - Mick's just trying too hard

I'm putting on my Nomex,
John
