Having discovered Sonarworks SoundID Reference for Speakers recently, I had to find out that this Speaker/Room adaptation software only provides filter settings compatible to a handfull of specific speakers and DAWs. This is unfortunate as the User Interface and wizzard steering is sooo much better than Acourate and the results comparable at a comparable license price.
Which alternatives to Acourate and Sonarworks can you recommend which are as easy to use as Sonarworks and which put out miniDSP openDRC compatible parameter files?
I just hope there's something out there I'm not aware of yet.
Thanks a lot!
Winfried

Hhmmmm....... I feel surprised and somewhat disappointed that this topic gets no response in this extremely competent forum!
Maybe there's a hidden message? Or did I actually post in the wrong forum? 😉
Thanks,

The obvious response from most DIYer will be "REW", but it looks like you are not seeking that response. How easy to use REW is will be up to you, but it is very powerful software, and the price is right.
I recommend downloading the latest beta version via the REW forum, there's lots of UI improvements there among other things.

Well, sorry, but my thinking is actually from a different perspective. Until recently I used DEQX PDC-2.6p and am looking for an alternative, since the PDC recently died, but alternatives and repair are prohibitive price wise.
I am familiar with REW and use it (not being a power user, though 😉 ). REW is useful for IIR x-over and IIR EQ design, but does not provide FIR filtering for phase/GD linearization I'm looking for. Sonarworks, though, has a strong user interface and measurements guidance, especially to tune existing full range Speakers to a room.
A technically viable alternative to Sonarworks would be Acourate, on the one hand it creates great filtering, but on the other hand I just really hate the UI, the almost non existent user guidance while working (or wizzards to work goal oriented), project management is also missing - lots of time sinks and sources for error and mistakes.
Your further advice is welcome!
Regards,
Winfried
PS: Please - no discussion about "FIR filtering is not needed, everything can be done with IIR"

For FIR filter development you can use RePhase or VituixCAD, though they may not check the "ease of use" that you are looking for, as the measurement software and filter software will be separated.

Well, I have no issues with separate measurement, filter and DSP software, as long as compatibility is maintained 😉
As it seems that no Sonarworks "equivalent" exists, I'll "have to" go the conventional way, use REW, Rephase, potentially Acourate as well.
My DSP system is made of three parts: One openDRC at each box for x-over and a "pre-processing openDRC" for overall FIR/IIR linearization and room adaptation. The pre-processor had been intended for Sonarworks... 🙄

I would use VituixCAD. I know of no better alternative for designing a crossover with spatial measurement data.
