Hi!

These are 2 designs that I like a lot, but I cannot afford these...
Since I always prefer to DIY, I decided to build something like those.
Does anyone have suggestions that are in that quality league, without having a huge price tag???

Still a lot of money... should be able to do something really good...
A Jordan JX150 or 125 with a JX53 or the budget Aurum Cantus ... XO with the ribbon is gonna be more complex, with the jordan pair you can get away with a cap & a choke.
And for a lot less there is always the Vifa P13WH-00-08/D27TG-45-06 combo with a single cap.

maybe like this....
Hi,
of course I haven't heard either speaker you mentioned, but especially the Link model looks kinda interesting.
As a suggestion I could make you aware of my own DIY-project from two years ago, called Stixx Nr1.
It is a classic twoway using Focal speakers, so nothing special basically. But I went a realtively long way in cabinet construction using a cast baffle (min 40mm thick, about 6kgs just the baffle, threaded inserts cast in)) and adding "my personal styling".
Xover was develloped with Clio and LSPCASD and consisted of 18dB filters, but I also have a 6dB/18dB + LCR network filter.
Sound is beautiful (OK, they all say that...), but the sturdy cabinet construction REALLY pays off! It's fast, very precise with a tight bass.
Speakers used were the TC 90TDX and the 6K4411, both of them being replaced in the Focal range by slightly updated versions. Right now I am having 4 baffles cast, and the pair that i will keep will use the 6W3411 in a slightly bigger volume.
Pix are attached, in case you are interested I could provide all the information you need! (Those pics are CAD renderings, but I also have some real shots...)
Greets,
Oliver
