Hello!
I am looking for a good sounding PP EL84 power amp. I like the sound of the Audio Note amps very much but this are too expensive for me...
I now that the Audio note output transformer are very good and a part oft the sound of this amps. Can anyone recommend me a nice sounding (not very expensive...)EL84 kit with 2 x 10-12W with a similar circuit like the audio note?
Best regards
Reza

Obviously, these boards are like the Audio Note only in the sense that they use the same output tubes. 🙂 But so much cheaper! Perhaps, you can order the AN output transformers, which should make a good difference.
tubelab has a nice pp board using easy to source at7. for transformers you can buy whatever fits your budget.

The output transformer has biggest impact to the overall performance of the tube amplifier. Much bigger that different brand of tubes.
(assuming the design is made correctly)
I have the stock EL84 L1 ANkit integrated
it comes with the stock blakc OPT. Im contemplating putting in the amp better OPT. anyone have suggestions for OPT?
Tango seem to have great EL84 OPT, dont think tamura does nor hashimoto.
this is interesting.

ST-35 KIT (120 VAC) - Dynakit Parts
st-35 is obviously the best kit option...
Why not improve to the st-70? but if you like the warm sound of el84, its ok.
I have the st-35 kinda like, I never use it because I built a 6BL7 parallel amp, it has almost the same resolution than the el34, it is smoother than the el84 without being too colored, and the bass is the best, not very detailed or dry like the el34. It is way better than the el84.

You want a sweet sounding EL84 stereo amp?
Puts out about 17 watts/channel - clean power, compares to $1000+ amps easily.
Fully regulated output bias determined by power draw/need, equivalent to fixed bias without the fuss or worry. (the bias "tracks" the power supply draw)
Feed it 325V B+ and it's happy!
And... it's using the Dynaco Z565 Ultralinear Trans! (Triode Electronics sells them)
I've built this, had it for years now - never an issue, even driving 4 ohm floor-standing hungry speakers. (Advent Maestros)
The most costly items are the power/output trans - but well worth the time and investment.
