I was concidering build this too. I can find the micro, but not the display. I also have no way to program the micro. I wonder if there have been any updates? We may just have to email Mr. Norre to ask?

Hi cygnus x1, I will send him an email, will post something when I now more .
This is what I got from Johnny Norre about the LCD :
"The display code is rather "relaxed", so it should work with any KS0066U ot HD44780 based display, this covers almost all character/non-graphic 16x1 displays on the marked. A 20x1 display can also be used, but the last 4 characters will of cause not be used by the code. "
and about the IC :
iCA01 USB Microchip PIC Programmer Set (ICSP & Adapter) on eBay (end time 21-Dec-10 09:34:58 GMT)
this is the best way to program one.
The updates are all on the website :http://www.norre.dk/TTPSU/TTPSU.html
The only thing is the fact that the circuit could have some problems with AC Noise

Thanks for the update. It looks like the mpu and display are available from Digikey. The data sheet shows how to program with two lines from a pc parallel port and a 5/12 Vdc ps. I also found a nice little board design from David Tate and Chuck Hellebuyck's Electronic Products. I think I will give that a try. I may ask circuitscc to build me a board.
