Alright...My questions are...Whats better, Veneer or Laminate?...Whats the best type of veneer/laminate to get?...Whats the best adhesive to use?...And which one of these veneer bits should i get http://www.homedepot.com/prel80/HDU...gecgelceffdfgidgnk.0&search_text=veneer&DRC=4 ?
BTW: This will be for a box that is housing an Adire Tempest, the box is 22"x33.5"x22".
And I want it to be black.

veneer is better, not too thin material is better, adhesive to use is a polyvinylacetate based glue. A white water emulgated PVAC you usualy use for glue parts of wood toghether.
I still have a few questions regarding veneer as well. I appreciate the responses from my earlier post which has now turned into battle of the environmentalists.
What is the easiest to use, 10 mil, 20 mil, 30 mil, paper backed, NBL, or other, or any combination of the above?
Please recommend the best of the above with regards to ease of finishing the edges. I would also love your comments/reasoning as to why one of the above is better than the other and advantages/disadvantages of each.
I guess my question comes from the fact that after I have browsed tapease.com, the choices are endless.
Also, how long after applying the veneer to the MDF, should you wait until you try to trim the egdes?

I try to get pre glued "iron-on" kind of veneer when I can, yhea its a bit more expensive, but if you get a good quality one, its way easier to aply and the glue that it has is really strong. I usualy trim the edges like 10 minutes after its glued on the mdf, its a very fast bond...
i prefer spending more time on making the speaker that on aplying finishing (even if the paint or taint and laquering stage takes alot of time....)

The iron-on stuff is certainly the easiest to apply but paper-backed is quite simpe too. I guess NBL has a similar backing material. The paper-backed veneer comes in large pre-matched sheets (I use 8ft x 4ft) so you don't have to trim and manually align the individual pieces.
I'm going to go against Till here because I've had problems with veneer warping when using PVA glue. I think it's caused by the veneer absorbing the water present in the glue and expanding as the glue dries. I now use contact cement which, I believe, gives better results.
Nice one,
David

PVA glue is used for this purpose by professionals here in germany. If you have some parts of venneer you have to tape them toghether on the non glue (visible) site before apply any glue. You shouldn´t use too much glue, and you need to use some kind of press. time to press depends strongly on temperature. without heating use some hours, best one day. You have to apply the glue very fast, thin and thickness of glue must be the same at every place. Its easyer to use a not too thin venneer, because you want to sand it later.
Maybe this other stuff with ironing is ok if you need to do it one time in live, for the other way you need to learn a little bit how to make it right. And you need very good tools for venner (every woodworking needs good tools...) like a press or a lot of large and good fastening clamps with some big pieces of multiplex.
