Hi, I have built a crt projector but of course it is not very bright, so I am trying to build an lcd projector and I have a few questions an I thought you might could help. Im new to lcd projectors so bear with me.
First, I've been looking on eBay and other sites trying to find one with a bad backlight as I wanted to find one cheep, and I noticed the fact that they sell replacement lcd's for monitors and tv's. Would i be able to buy one of these and use it?
If I buy an Lcd MONITOR and use a tv tuner card with my pc, do i need a fast computer to run the tv picture right? I have two computers but the one I am using for this right now has a Pentium 2 Processor at 348Mhz with 192mb ram.
Please help me, as I do not have a lot of money to spend on this project right now

Yes you can BUT and it's a big but, you also have to have a controller that matches the LCD that you buy. Most, if not all, laptops have the controller hardwired into them. There once was a frenze for a 1080p laptop LCD and aftermarket controller but I haven't seen anything about it in a while. (LCD used dithering to get to 16.7m colors and some people could tell. It was also $500+ ;-) ) You can search for LCD controller here to find out more on that. If you found a replacement LCD for a desktop and found a whole broken one and pieced them together, that would work.
