After trying to find PCB transfers on the market and miserably failing, I am re-aiming my guns at KiCad, maybe that, can help me produce any PCBs I need for my amplifier. However, notwithstanding of having version 4.0.5 installed under Devuan, a forlorn Linux distribution, I am still stuck. Oddly enough, the pointing device (aka mouse) gives the design window the frenzy of resizing itself with every move! This makes the software useless and a waste of system resources. Therefore, I am feeling forced to use a more recent version.
Downloading the upstream source for the latest version was done without issues. Extracting the sources was equally readily done, but compiling the sources, seems to be an insurmountable mountain range higher than Mars' Mount Olimpus. This made me download the latest Debianized sources from debian.org, but even that, after a litany of twiddling, failed to build the required compiled packages. The compilation error is this cryptic, yet supposedly informative message:
Oh, how right I was when I stated a computer puts rods into my wheels. But my battle will not stop here. By hook or by crook, that software will have to work.

Microsoft Windows is a no-go zone, as it requires a heavyweight daemon hand holding the access of files, treating a computer's user like a toddler. Linux, on the other hand, is a savage beast that no-one has succeeded to tame, especially, when it comes to compiling sources.dh_auto_configure: cmake ../.. -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=/usr -DCMAKE_VERBOSE_MAKEFILE=ON -DCMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=None -DCMAKE_INSTALL_SYSCONFDIR=/etc -DCMAKE_INSTALL_LOCALSTATEDIR=/var -DKICAD_SKIP_BOOST=ON -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=/usr -DCMAKE_CXX_FLAGS=-g -O2 -DCMAKE_SHARED_LINKER_FLAGS_RELEASE= -DBUILD_GITHUB_PLUGIN=ON -DKICAD_REPO_NAME=stable -DKICAD_VERSION_EXTRA=+dfsg1-1~bpo9+1 -DDEFAULT_INSTALL_PATH=/usr -DKICAD_SCRIPTING=ON -DKICAD_SCRIPTING_MODULES=ON -DKICAD_SCRIPTING_WXPYTHON=ON returned exit code 1

You would probably have a much better chance to get an answer to your question at the kicad forum.

Having said that, kicad distributions works fine on the ubuntu versions I have tried it on.
