I find eutectic solder is the easiest to use as it has a lower melting point. I prefer glowcore no-clean, never had a problem with it.
yes a nice stereo microscope is a blessing if you are so fortunate, but I have done DFN without one, using a jewels loupe, it is challenging but doable with a steady hand and lots of patients 🙂

You MUST use unleaded solder otherwise leaching of the tin will start making the component intermittent in time as the tin is removed and replaced with lead that does not electrically adhere or connect to the component.
What? This is completely nonsensical. Leaded solder is Lead/Tin.
