Wondering if radio shack solder is any good??

I have a few amps i need to get repaired today and ran out of solder..

I usually only use Kester but like i said i ran out so just wondering if the Solder from radio shack is any good to use?

As long as it is 63/37 Tin Lead it is great. 60/40 is not quite as good. The lead free will make good joints but you need to use more heat, the solder does not flow as smoothly so you need to use less of it and the final joint will not be very shiny.

Be sure it is rosin core. Long ago Radio Shack actually sold bad solder, but that was more than 30 years ago!

I use their 60/40 rosin core all the time and it works great. I buy their flux to go with it. I use it on all amp repairs including soldering to mesha boards on rockford amps.

It makes nice shiny joints and flows awesome. You can buy the .032" 8 oz roll for pretty cheap. The part number is 64-009.
