So who makes a decent Blu-Ray player these days? (mid-2024)

I've finally used up all the old players I had hanging around. Forced to buy something new even if they're basically obsolete.

Any notes on specific brands or models are most welcome. Don't need much in the way of fancy features - I just want one that will last a while.

I'm using a Panasonic player that does well with playing DVDs, but hangs up when it actually has to play a blu-ray disc. At least it interfaces well with my ancient Vizio TV, unlike the Sony I had before that took interminable massaging before it would actually talk to the TV. Maybe the Sony would work better with a newer TV.

I find Panasonic products to be reliable, and they have a range of Blu-ray players.

Here's the UK selection: https://www.panasonic.com/uk/consumer/home-entertainment/blu-ray-and-dvd.html

I am satisfied by my bottom of the range DMP-BD83. Panasonic have now upgraded this model to the networking capable DMP-BD84.

As far as convenience of interfacing goes, it is likely an advantage that the Blu-ray player be the same make as your TV.
